Decanters (Decanter Centrifuges)
Two-phase decanter
2-phase decanters – also called clarifying decanters – are employed for continuously separating solids from liquids with high solid contents. The bowl's high speed of rotation in these centrifugal decanters causes the solids to deposit on the bowl walls from where the built-in screw conveyor continuously transports them to the outlet from where they are discharged. The clarified liquid that is then almost completely free of solids leaves the separation chamber through openings at the other end of the bowl.
Three-phase decanter / tricanter
3-phase decanters are used to clarify and simultaneous separate liquids of different densities. The bowl's high speed of rotation in this centrifugal decanter causes the solids to deposit on the bowl wall from where the built-in screw conveyor continuously transports them to the outlet from where they are discharged. The separated liquid phases that are then almost completely free of solids leave the separation chamber through separate openings at the other end of the bowl.
Sedicanter®
Sedicanters® are high-performance horizontal centrifuges. This type of centrifuge combines the benefits of separators with those of decanters. This type of centrifuge may in particular be used for applications in which the sediment is too fine for decanters and in which the solid content is too great for separators. Sorticanter®
Sorticanter® equipment may be used to separate solids of different densities while simultaneously separating a liquid phase. Sorticanters® are in particular widely used in plastics recycling. (Sorticanter® = registered trademark by Flottweg AG.)
